Matthew Chalfant was born in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Walsh University with a B.A. in political science and minors in accounting and business. After completing law school at the University of Akron, Matthew moved to Charleston in 2022 for a yearlong judicial clerkship with the South Carolina Circuit Courts. Prior to his clerkship and while in law school, he worked as a clerk for the Summit County Court of Common Pleas and Wayne County Probate and Juvenile Court; as an IP extern for Summa Health; and as a research assistant for a professor at his law school. He was admitted to the South Carolina bar in 2022. Matthew is an avid auto and aviation enthusiast who, in his free time, enjoys cooking, reading, playing the piano, and studying foreign languages.
